Yoga for Grief Dallas Spring 2025 Newsletter
Hello, friends -
I think I say this at the beginning of every season, but it’s truly astonishing to me that I’m wishing you “Happy Spring” - it seems like it was only five minutes or so ago that I was writing about decorating my house for the winter holidays. And now I’m in the throes of spring allergies and planning for a couple of upcoming vacations.
One of my new favorite t-shirts says: Life happens. Yoga helps. As we look to the longer and warmer days, I hope you find a way to make yoga part of your life - but only on days that end with a “y.” 😉
📱New Normals 📲
My husband and I were talking recently about the updates to our iPhones. I was griping about the new Photos layout, and he was shaking his head about changes to the appearance of his email. We didn’t ask for these changes! Apple made these changes without consulting us! And yet, within a few weeks, we’ll probably have adjusted to the new features, and it will be hard to remember what it was we were so attached to before all the big changes. It’s happened time and again with our technology - right?
And so it is with our grief. I didn’t ask for this big life event! Nobody consulted me! I want things back the way they were before! Even though it seems impossible at first that we’d ever adapt, we humans seem to be designed to accommodate change, whether we like it at first or not. Inexplicably, we somehow grow accustomed to the unwanted changes that happen in our lives. That’s not to say we ever ask for or willingly embrace these changes, and things will never go back to the way they were before. But by some strange alchemy, we mostly manage to find our way to a new normal. I found a couple of hacks I can do to my Photos app that will allow me to make things CLOSE to what they were before, but that photo layout isn’t ever going back to exactly the way it used to be. And neither is my life ever going to be exactly the same as it was before my kiddo died. That’s not to say that there aren’t still plenty of things to love in this life, and countless things to be grateful for. It’s just a new normal.
Whether you are adjusting to new features on your devices or grieving the loss of a loved one, or something in between, I wish you hope, courage, love, and light. Namaste.

📖 Coming this summer! 📖
I’m writing a book about how yoga has helped me in my grief process, and I’m hoping to have more details on its birth date some time this summer. If you’d be interested in being an early reader and giving me a little feedback on a chapter or two, please shoot me an email to let me know!
